Redefining the win
January 8, 2008

Yes, I’m reading Andy Stanley’s 7 Practices of Effective Ministry, and it got me thinking about clarifying what the “win” is in my ministry. The Reproducing Church Experience, which just ended this evening (I’m blogging from CCC’s Yellow Box) has helped me process deeper what the win is. My mind is slowly starting to get that my goal is not to be the best worship leader/pastor possible, but to reproduce myself, and help someone else be the best worship leader/pastor possible.
Investing in people is not new concept for me, and it has been my instinct for years in worship ministry to “work myself out of a job” by raising up new leaders, just like others have invested in me. Nonetheless, after hearing CCC’s story and insight into the multi-site movement and what it could mean for Suncrest in the coming year, I understand that I’ve got to be intentional about encouraging every team member to apprentice someone in their role, and to lead in that by example. Definitely a useful couple of days, I highly recommend checking it out!
